Look: Kitten rescued from Connecticut sewer system

May 29 (UPI) — Firefighters in Connecticut entered a local sewer system at three different locations to pinpoint the position of a kitten trapped in a pipe.

The Rocky Hill Fire Department said on Facebook that crews responded to Main Street, near Garden Street, on a report of an animal trapped in the sewer system that was “determined to be a small kitten.”

“Firefighters entered the sewer system at three locations to determine where the kitten was located. It was in the sewer pipe approximately 50 feet from the street,” the post said.

Firefighters at the furthest location coaxed the kitten into walking down the pipe toward the other crews.

“Once it was between the access points on Main Street and just past the sidewalk, the kitten was safely removed,” officials wrote. “The custody of the kitten was transferred to the Rocky Hill Police Department.”

The kitten is now in the care of a rescue group and is being monitored by a veterinarian.
