July 6 (UPI) — Animal rescuers and emergency responders in Kansas came to the rescue of a dog that fell down a well while apparently fleeing from fireworks.
Friends of Kansas City, Kan., Animal Services said on social media that the dog was apparently spooked by fireworks on Saturday and ended up running straight into a 15-foot-deep well.
Animal services officers responded alongside local police and firefighters when a witness found the canine crying for help from the bottom of the well.
The dog was hoisted out of the well and treated to some Fourth of July brisket.
The canine, now named Brisket, was given a bath with dish soap to clean the oil and sewage off his body.
“He slept hard on fluffy lavender blankets in the [air conditioning] for what we assume the first time in his life he could just relax,” the post said.
