June 10 (UPI) — Animal rescuers and firefighters teamed up in Oklahoma to rescue a dog found trapped in an outdoor drain.
Stillwater Animal Welfare said officers responded to a call from witnesses reporting a dog stuck in a drain covered by thick metal bars.
The Stillwater Fire Department was contacted for assistance and firefighters were able to remove the drain cover so the dog could be lifted to safety.
The female dog was taken to a veterinarian to ensure she wasn’t suffering any ill effects from being trapped in the high heat.
Officials said they are still trying to identify and contact the canine’s owner.
