Frederiksen thought that ‘standing up to Trump’ on Greenland would make her popular – she was so wrong.

Euro-Globalist Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen has played by the Brussels playbook her whole two terms, and made the political bet that her defiance against US President Donald J. Trump’s design on Greenland would make her a popular favorite come election time.

But it turns out that unchecked mass migration and the erosion of the population’s quality of life were greater issues, and she led her social democrat party into its worse electoral result ever.

So she had to resign, and stay as caretaker PM as she negotiated with other leftwing parties to form a coalition that would give her a third term.

But she failed at that.

Reuters reported:

“The king of Denmark has asked Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen to explore the formation of ‌a potential center-right government following the breakdown of negotiations among center-left parties, the royal palace said on Friday.”

With a fragmented assembly of 12 parties, Frederiksen had the tough task of negotiating a new coalition.

“But Frederiksen’s talks with likely partners reached a stalemate in recent weeks, slowing down government decision making amid efforts to resolve a crisis in ties with U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration over Greenland.

On Friday, Lars Lokke Rasmussen and his centrist Moderate Party ended talks with Frederiksen and proposed ‌that the task of leading the negotiations should be given to Lund Poulsen, who heads the right-wing Liberal Party.”

If Lund Poulsen finds support from right-wing and centrist groups, he could become prime minister.

“Frederiksen’s Social Democrats, in power since 2019, won 38 seats in the 179-seat parliament, down from 50 in 2022, making it their worst election result since 1903.”
