Take an Extended Look at the Next Jaw-Dropping Black Myth Game 1

Update []:

The official word from Chinese dev Game Science on Black Myth: Zhong Kui is that it will release on “PC and all mainstream console platforms”. That obviously suggests PS5, but doesn’t confirm it.

However, a Sony upload of the latest Lunar New Year trailer, along with a ‘PS5 Games’ label in the title, suggests the sequel is very much in development for the device.

It’s notable that PlayStation didn’t upload Zhong Kui’s original reveal trailer, so we’d now consider this confirmation in a roundabout way.

Original Story: Lunar New Year is almost here, and Black Myth: Wukong maker Game Science is here to remind us it’s cooking up something special.

While not technically announced for consoles just yet, we’d be shocked if the dev’s next project, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, skipped Sony’s system. Of course, we may all be playing on the PS6 by the time it releases.

The trailer itself, running in-engine, delivers the level of spectacle you’d probably from the studio by this point. However, the video description does caveat that the content featured is “non-canon and for entertainment purposes only”.

Nevertheless, it’s an extraordinary little tech demo, pairing a cooking scene with some occasionally harrowing imagery.

There’s a lot to appreciate about what’s on display here: the art assets are of a remarkably high quality, and the scene is busy, with steam coming off the food and various different characters eventually all contributing to the scene.

It’s clear from this clip alone that the studio is stepping up its efforts following the meteoric success of Black Myth: Wukong.

Of course, with no date attached – and this being a non-canon, celebratory trailer – don’t expect to be playing it any time soon.
