iOS 27’s tentpole additions include Siri AI and new Apple Intelligence features. But one of my favorite features so far is a convenient addition for quickly pasting items from your iPhone’s clipboard. Here’s how it works.
iOS 27 adds paste shortcut above keyboard for one-tap access to your clipboard
Every year Apple prepares a bunch of new features for iOS, and this year that includes additions to Apple Wallet, Messages, CarPlay, and more.
Many new features, however, might go easily overlooked by the average iPhone user.
But there’s one iOS 27 addition in particular that I suspect readers will find themselves using a lot.
After you copy text to your iPhone’s clipboard, or a link or photo, iOS 27 adds a paste shortcut above the keyboard when you open a new text field.
The idea is simple: if you copy something, then immediately switch to another app, or open some other text field, Apple knows there’s a very good chance you want to paste there.
So rather than requiring you to open the copy/paste menu and hit paste from there, the paste suggestion appears automatically above the keyboard—offering one-tap convenience.
You’ll even see a preview of what’s on the clipboard, right there in the top keyboard row. So if it’s text, you’ll know what that text is, and if it’s an image you’ll see a small thumbnail preview.
It’s the kind of feature that I never would have thought to ask for, but after using the iOS 27 beta for a few weeks, it’s proven extremely convenient in everyday use.
