Immortal snail meme turned into desktop game where you only get one life – Dexerto

If you have spent any time on TikTok or Instagram, you have probably seen people debating whether they would take $10 million in exchange for being hunted for life by an immortal snail that kills instantly on contact.

The hypothetical has been circulating since a 2014 Rooster Teeth podcast that posed the same question, and now someone has turned the idea into a game.

Don’t Touch The Snail, developed by PlasticBagHandMan and published by Both Good, drops a snail directly onto your Windows desktop as it slowly slithers closer to your cursor with impending doom.

One touch and it’s over

If the snail touches your cursor once, your run ends, your score locks in forever on the global leaderboard, and you are never allowed to play the survival mode again. No resets, no second chances, you’re locked out from the mode permanently.

Every minute survived earns Gold, spendable on over 50 snail skins and costumes. Die, and a harmless companion snail takes up residence on your desktop instead, wearing whatever you managed to buy before the end.

The developers call it an “anti-cosy idler,” which is a polite way of saying it is a passive game designed to make you anxious. Most idlers are built to be ignored. This one is built to constantly be on your mind.

We covered the immortal snail meme when it first went viral, including a full breakdown of why the hypothetical took over TikTok and the various ways people tried to outsmart it.
