Police have identified and located the suspect in a stabbing outside of a Charlotte, North Carolina, grocery store a couple of weeks ago in a random, unprovoked attack.
Police identified the suspect as Marvina Marie Hardy following a multi-state manhunt. Hardy was arrested and placed in custody in Flagler County, Florida, awaiting extradition back to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
She faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and battery of an unborn child.
The incident occurred on March 18 outside of a Harris Teeter grocery store
According to Initial reporting on the incident from WSOC TV, the victim was getting her toddler out of her car when the attacker, who she’d never seen before, attacked her.
“I was facing my toddler getting him out of his seat, and thankfully turned around, and she was coming at me with a steak knife,” the 38-year-old mother, who asked to remain unidentified, said. “I pushed and kicked and screamed, and thankfully I think that scared her off.”
“Thankfully, I turned around because if I had been facing my car, it could have been much worse,” she added.

The suspect was later seen on CCTV footage from inside the grocery store, which was released by police while the manhunt was underway.
Via WBTV:
Many across social media claim that Hardey has an extensive arrest history with over 70 criminal charges filed against her, though this number is unconfirmed. Reports, however, confirm that her criminal history is “extensive.”
Similarly, in North Carolina, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. murdered 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska last year after stabbing her multiple times in the East/West Boulevard light rail station. The lunatic had a long criminal rap sheet, with arrests dating back to 2007.
Per the Charlotte Observer:
Newly released 911 calls from the scene of the stabbing capture the immediate response from bystanders. The recordings indicate that store employees tried to assist the pregnant woman in the parking lot until emergency responders arrived.
The victim, who had non-life-threatening injuries, previously stated she did not know the woman who attacked her. The motive for the stabbing remains unknown as investigators continue to process the case. Hardy is currently in custody in Flagler County, Florida, and awaiting extradition back to
Mecklenburg County, where she will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill/inflict serious injury, and battery of an unborn child.
She has an extensive criminal history.
