Newsweek confirmed:

While a full official list has not been publicly released, the airports are understood to span the country—including John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport in New York, as well as airports serving Newark, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston and Phoenix, the outlet reported. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens confirmed the planned presence of ICE personnel at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport beginning Monday morning. A spokesperson for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has confirmed to Newsweek that ICE agents are on-site.

An ICE official who requested anonymity to speak freely told Newsweek that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) would be deployed to assist TSA. HSI is a subdivision of ICE that traditionally focuses on combating transnational crime.

The deployment comes amid a prolonged funding impasse affecting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees TSA. Thousands of TSA employees have been working without pay, contributing to staffing shortages, absenteeism and longer security lines at airports across the country. TSA officers haven’t been paid since their parent agency partly shut down in February.

“On Monday, ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA Agents who have stayed on the job despite the fact that the Radical Left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hard line criminals who have entered our Country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts, and all,” Trump said on Sunday.

“But watch, no matter how great a job ICE does, the Lunatics leading the incompetent Dems will be highly critical of their work. THEY WILL DO A FANTASTIC JOB. The great Tom Homan is in charge!!!” he added.

ICE “Going To Airports” On Monday To Assist TSA, President Trump Says

ABC7 San Francisco has more:

People are seeing hours-long lines at some airports, as more than 11.5% of the TSA workforce called out nationwide on Saturday.

TSA says places like Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta and New York’s JFK all had callout rates between about 30% and 40%.

The shortage is a result of the government shutdown because TSA workers aren’t getting paid. Lawmakers are still disagreeing how to pay for the Department of Homeland Security.

Here in the Bay Area, SFO has contract employees doing security so the TSA worker call out won’t have as big of an impact. But even though the local airports won’t be getting the ice agents for now, the call out of those workers will still impact travelers.
