Feb. 25 (UPI) — An Ohio man said a special algorithm created by his wife’s grandmother led to his prayers being answered with a $25,208.50 lottery prize.
The Columbus man told Ohio Lottery officials he and his wife play lottery games regularly and they use a special algorithm invented by his wife’s grandmother when they buy tickets.
He said the couple had recently been praying for lottery luck to support Youth Mind Builders, a nonprofit they founded that teaches financial literacy to kids.
The player used his grandmother-in-law’s system when he bought his ticket for the Feb. 15 evening Pick 5 drawing at Briggs Stop Mart on Briggs Road in Columbus.
The ticket scored a $25,000 jackpot by matching all 5 numbers, 6-8-2-5-7, as well as an additional $208.50 from a 120-way box bet.
The winner said the prize money will allow him to buy computers and games for Youth Mind Builders.
