Belgium’s protest is not admissible, said FIFA.

The good news for US fans is that FIFA has ruled against a request from the Belgium football federation for an ‘explanation’ of Folarin Balogun’s overturned red card suspension.

The football (soccer) governing body deemed the Belgian request to be ‘inadmissible’, so they can’t appeal the decision.

So, the United States striker is cleared to play against Belgium in Monday’s World Cup round-of-16 match.

ESPN reported:

“’The FIFA Appeal Committee has rendered a request submitted by the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) as inadmissible in relation to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend for one year the match suspension imposed on United States national team player Folarin Balogun.

[This follows] his dismissal for a direct red card during the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina, played on 1 July 2026 at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium’, FIFA said in a statement on Monday.

‘The chairperson of the FIFA Appeal Committee, Neil Eggleston (from the United States), was not involved in the decision. The request was rendered inadmissible on the grounds that the RBFA is not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision’.”

The bad news for US fans is that now, anything good that happens to the host squad will be said – by the other competing teams and by the usual never-Trumpers – to be a result of a ‘manipulation’.

Controversies over referee decisions are a common occurrence in footbal. Up until today people still rant about the sole UK title back in 1966, because of referee calls during the final match against Western Germany.

But it’s clear, in this case, that this development is being politicized by people who hate Trump and the US, like the false allies from the EU.
