Brussels, the beating heart of the European Union’s bureaucratic empire – where “science” means whatever the green agenda demands and dissent gets you labeled a heretic. In a jaw-dropping display of totalitarian intolerance straight out of the climate cult playbook, a top EU official completely lost it during a public lecture by one of Europe’s leading geologists.
The incident unfolded Monday night at the end of a conference featuring Professor Alain Préat, a respected geologist and one of the finest scientific minds of his generation. Préat had just delivered a measured, fact-based presentation painting an encouraging picture of the evolving climate debate. Including the IPCC quietly ditching some of its most hysterical alarmist scenarios.
You know, the kind of inconvenient truth that doesn’t fit the EU’s trillion-euro “climate emergency” grift.
Enter Philippe Tulkens, Director of the European Commission’s Climate & Planetary Boundaries unit (and apparently self-appointed High Priest of the Green Inquisition). Under the flimsy pretext of “asking a question,” Tulkens launched into a foaming-at-the-mouth tirade. Screaming like a man possessed at the elderly professor.
Witnesses described him as red-faced, sweating, and completely unhinged as he ranted about the sacred “climate urgency” while insulting Préat and fellow professor Samuele Furfari – who tried to step in and restore order – as “old” and “flat-earthers” (platistes in French). He even took a bizarre swipe at Belgium’s classical-liberal MR party, calling it “far-right” for no apparent reason other than pure ideological derangement.
A manifest and flagrant violation of the duty of reserve
This outrageous public meltdown represents a manifest and flagrant violation of the duty of reserve (devoir de réserve) that every European Commission official is legally and ethically bound to uphold. As a senior civil servant, Tulkens is required to exercise restraint, neutrality, and discretion in public forums. Especially when dealing with scientific debates.
Instead, he weaponized his official position to personally attack academics and label scientific opponents as “criminals.” And behave like a political activist rather than a neutral public servant. Such conduct not only breaches the Commission’s own staff regulations and code of conduct. It also exposes the deep politicization of EU institutions that are supposed to serve the citizens of Europe, not enforce a green dogma through intimidation.
Professor Préat, to his credit, remained remarkably calm in his composure throughout the embarrassing spectacle. But Tulkens wasn’t done humiliating himself – or the EU he claims to represent.
In classic authoritarian fashion, Tulkens reportedly treated his scientific opponents as outright criminals. Painting skeptics and realists as dangerous enemies of mankind rather than legitimate voices in a debate. Because nothing says “following the science” like criminalizing disagreement, right?

And it gets even better. According to sources close to the matter, Tulkens wasn’t satisfied with his public meltdown. He still sent a LinkedIn message in the middle of the night directly to Professor Préat, seething with his so-called “indignation.” Yes, you read that right. This high-ranking EU bureaucrat was so triggered that he couldn’t even wait until morning to continue harassing a respected academic who dared present official data that didn’t align with the narrative.
This isn’t just one unhinged bureaucrat having a bad day. This is the mask slipping on the entire climate industrial complex. While the EU rams through radical net-zero policies that crush energy prices, destroy industries, and punish ordinary citizens, their own officials can’t handle a single calm presentation that questions the doom-and-gloom script. Dissent? Off with their heads – or at least a screaming fit and late-night social media ambush.
The European Commission loves to lecture the world about “democracy,” “tolerance,” and “evidence-based policy.” Yet here we have one of their top climate enforcers throwing a public tantrum worthy of a toddler denied a cookie. Then, following up with a late-night digital tantrum because someone challenged the holy narrative.
If this is the quality of “expertise” running Europe’s climate policy, the road back to sanity in the EU is going to be a very long one.
The climate cult doesn’t debate – it denounces. It doesn’t persuade – it intimidates. And when that fails, it resorts to rage.
