The Fuego is lit, so an ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued.
The Fuego (Fire) volcano in Guatemala, apart having one of the least poetic volcanic names in the whole Pacific ‘Ring of Fire’, it’s historically a deadly one.
Yesterday’s (3) eruption has triggered the evacuation of at least two villages on its slopes.

BBC reported:
“Fuego, one of the most active volcanoes in the Western Hemisphere, started spewing lava and ash on Monday.
Pyroclastic currents – rivers of gas, volcanic ash and rock fragments – continued to flow down Fuego’s south-eastern slope early on Tuesday, the government agency which monitors its activity said.
Disaster management agency Conred issued a nationwide orange alert, the second highest, and warned locals to be prepared as the eruptions could create further pyroclastic flows and billowing ash clouds.”

Fuego is located just 10 miles of tourist-friendly Antigua, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
And there’s very good reason for alarm, since in the 2018 eruption, hundreds of people were killed and a whole village was destroyed in an event that impacted as many as 1.7 million people.
Associated Press reported:
“Guatemala remained on alert Tuesday [4] after evacuating hundreds of people following an eruption the day before of the Fuego volcano, which is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and one of Central America’s most active volcanoes.
The country’s disaster management agency said 659 people were evacuated from eight villages in the danger area and are being housed in nearby shelters. The eruption started on Monday morning, with videos showing clouds of gas and ash above the volcano as lava and pyroclastic flows roll down.
A major highway that passes close to the volcano, National Route 14, was closed. The Education Ministry suspended classes in nearby towns.”
