According to a report from Yahoo Finance, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has highlighted the potential for the company’s Optimus humanoid robot and advanced artificial intelligence systems to deliver superior medical care accessible to everyone, surpassing even the standards available to the wealthiest individuals today.
Musk shared his outlook on Monday by quoting a post on X from influencer Peter Diamandis, who circulated a clip featuring Musk discussing the capabilities of highly dexterous humanoid robots. This vision underscores a future where advanced robotics could fundamentally reshape healthcare delivery on a global scale.
“AI+Optimus will enable universal excellent healthcare that is better than anyone receives today,” Musk stated in his July 7, 2026 post on X.
The comments come amid significant progress in Tesla’s manufacturing efforts. The company recently transitioned its Fremont, California facility to begin producing Optimus units, following the earlier phase-out of Model S and Model X production lines earlier this year.
Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, has indicated that the automaker plans to establish as many as 40 production lines dedicated to scaling output of the humanoid robot.
This push into humanoid robotics aligns with broader ambitions to integrate AI deeply into practical applications, with Musk emphasizing Optimus’s role in enabling high-precision tasks that could extend to medical environments.
In parallel discussions around the technology’s trajectory, Cathie Wood-led ARK Invest outlined a bullish perspective on humanoid robots and AI, stressing their capacity to generate new employment opportunities rather than simply displace existing ones.
The firm drew historical parallels to the advent of the Internet, noting that technological breakthroughs often spark initial concerns about job losses that ultimately prove unfounded.
“US labor productivity has compounded at ~2.1% annually since the commercial tractor’s debut. Real disposable income has grown at a ~3.2% annualized rate over the postwar period,” ARK Invest noted in its analysis, projecting meaningful growth in the sector over the coming decade.
The investment firm pointed to the extraordinary complexity involved, stating, “A humanoid robot is 200,000 times more complex than a robotaxi.” To achieve human-level proficiency in tasks, ARK estimates an investment of approximately $50 billion in computing resources will be required.
“Tesla’s Optimus could approach that threshold around 2028. China is pushing hard to get there first,” the firm added, while expressing support for Optimus’s development path.
