Antifa and assorted radicals have a professional entourage. They bring ‘legal observers’, usually from the National Lawyers Guild, a Communist organization, ‘medics’, which means leftist radicals trained to provide first aid to their own, and the largest group of all, ‘independent journalists’.
This group tends to not only take part in the attacks, but also use their footage to…
- identify political enemies, e.g. ICE, conservatives, Jews, for later targeting, including by ‘mainstream media’
- resell the footage to assorted players from the media to social media
- get in the way of the riots and claim that law enforcement is attacking journalists
Ex-mainstream media talent from Tucker Carlson to Don Lemon have been joining the ‘independent journalist’ party which these days means absolutely nothing except someone who writes/talks about various issues.
We’ve all long since become ‘independent journalists’ (if you’re commenting here, aren’t you also taking part) which means the entire term is past due for retirement. Journalist hasn’t been a specific identifiable member of a class in a while except through ‘professionalism’, which doesn’t mean the quality of that person’s work, but whether he/she/is is making a lot of money. And there’s no reason to view the amount of money that Don Lemon or Candace Owens or CNN makes as indicators of anything other than the poor taste of others.
Should Don Lemon be granted some sort of special dispensation when he breaks in to disrupt a church service? No more so than any Antifa schlub with purple hair, a nose ring and a drag queen fetish.
Journalism offers the same protections that it does for anyone with First Amendment rights. You have the right to film what someone is doing, but you don’t have the right to trespass on someone else’s property while doing it.
Everyone is an ‘independent journalist’ now and no one has the right to break the law.
