Just months after radical Democrats Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales were forced out in disgrace, another far-left California Democrat is facing the music. This time, it’s Rep. Jimmy Gomez, and the allegations just went from bad to COMPLETE CRIMINALITY.
The House Ethics Committee was already probing Gomez for “sexual misconduct” after he was caught locking lips with a much younger congressional aide at a 2023 party.
Now, the investigation has blown wide open. During interviews with the Ethics Committee, a woman has officially accused the married Democrat of SEXUAL ASSAULT.
On Wednesday, an unidentified woman interviewed during the House Ethics Committee’s investigation has accused the California congressman of sexual harassment and assault, according to a statement from her attorneys reported by the New York Post.
Attorneys Lisa Banks and Sarah Nesbitt directly challenged Gomez’s public insistence that his extramarital conduct was “consensual in nature.”
“We represent one of the women who was interviewed by the House Committee on Ethics about her experience of sexual harassment and assault by Representative Jimmy Gomez. Contrary to Representative Gomez’s assertion in his statement, his actions were not ‘consensual in nature’ with respect to our client. We fully expect that the House Committee on Ethics will come to the same conclusion in its investigation.”
The lawyers went further, calling the episode “just the latest example of brazen sexual misconduct by a member of Congress” and arguing that lawmakers appear to treat “preying on young women working on Capitol Hill” as one of the perks of the job.
Gomez, the married founder and chairman of the Congressional Dads Caucus, admitted this week that he made “personal mistakes outside my marriage.”
He insisted those actions “were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House Ethics rules.” He claimed he has taken responsibility, sought professional help, and is cooperating with the Ethics Committee while working through the fallout privately with his wife and family.
The Ethics Committee publicly confirmed its investigation on Monday. The bipartisan panel is reviewing whether Gomez violated House rules prohibiting unwelcome sexual advances or conduct toward House employees.
The scandal first gained traction after the New York Post reported that Gomez was spotted in an intimate encounter with a much younger congressional staffer outside a 2023 backyard party. That staffer was later identified as Yardena Wolf, then-chief of staff to fellow California Democrat Eric Swalwell.
The encounter occurred at a party hosted by Swalwell. When the Ethics Committee began looking into that report, it learned of additional allegations of sexual misconduct against Gomez.
Gomez and Swalwell were close. Gomez had served as a co-chair of Swalwell’s campaign. Swalwell himself resigned from Congress earlier this year after multiple women accused him of sexual assault and misconduct, collapsing his California gubernatorial bid in the process.
Gomez, who represents a deep-blue Los Angeles district and sits on the powerful Ways and Means Committee, is running for reelection this fall. He faces a progressive primary challenge from the left even as this ethics cloud grows darker.
