Although just a sophomore, Jordan Seaton is already making a name for himself.

On Monday, Colorado’s left tackle was named to the preseason All-Big 12 football team, which was voted on my members of the media that cover the conference. Cornerback DJ McKinney also made the team for CU.

Coming out of high school in the class of 2024, Seaton was the top-ranked offensive line recruit in the country. He proved it as a true freshman, starting every game for the Buffs last season, helping them to a 9-4 record.

Seaton, who earned All-Big 12 honorable mention and freshman All-American honors from some outlets last year, is widely regarded as one of the top linemen in the conference coming into this year. Seaton’s spot on the preseason All-Big 12 team is no surprise considering he’s also garnered some preseason All-American recognition.

McKinney, a fourth-year junior, was one of five defensive backs on the preseason All-Big 12 team. He’s received preseason All-Big 12 recognition from other outlets, as well.

Although overshadowed last year by fellow corner and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, McKinney had an exceptional 2024 season for the Buffs. In starting all 13 games, he finished with 62 tackles (fourth on the team), three interceptions (second) and nine pass breakups (second).

McKinney began his career with two seasons (2022-23) at Oklahoma State before transferring to CU.

Defending Big 12 champ Arizona State led the way with five players on the preseason all-conference team, including quarterback Sam Leavitt, who was selected as the preseason offensive player of the year.

Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez was named the preseason defensive player of the year, while Utah quarterback Devon Dampier – a transfer from New Mexico – was named the preseason newcomer of the year.
