July 8 (UPI) — Authorities in Malaysia are investigating a video posted online showing a capybara, a South American animal, on the loose in Selayang.
The video, posted to TikTok by user musabumair970, shows the collar-wearing capybara calmly walking around next to a car wash in the city.
Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents.
Local authorities have not yet determined the rodent’s origins.
Capybaras are only legal to own in Malaysia with permits from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks. Such permits are usually only issued to zoos and licensed sanctuaries.
