July 17 (UPI) — A Colorado black bear was caught on camera beating the summer heat by taking a dip in a resident’s backyard kiddie pool.
Katie Cole shared video from the bear’s visit to the pool she had filled with water on the deck in her backyard in the Steamboat Springs area.
Cole said the pool is there for use by her dogs, but she was happy the bear was able to use it to cool off from the summer heat.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife warned early in the summer that bear sightings in the state were likely to increase due to drought conditions. CPW recorded 98 bear sightings as of late April, compared to a total 127 statewide for all of 2025.
