Apex Legends Season 29, Overclocked, introduces a new hypermobile Legend, a major respawn mechanic, and updates to existing characters, alongside a fresh Battle Pass and Mythic melee weapon. Here’s everything we know so far.
Launching May 5, Season 29 focuses on faster gameplay and high-risk engagements, with Respawn continuing its push toward a more competitive experience built around skill, matchmaking, and stability improvements.
New Legend: Axle
Axle is the headline addition in Season 29, designed as a hypermobile Legend built around speed and aggressive playstyles.
Her passive, Drift, improves slide control for more precise movement. Nitro Gate, her tactical ability, launches her into high-speed slides that can be used to reposition quickly or engage fights, though enemies can also take advantage of the gates.
Her Ultimate, Kickstart, deploys an enemy-seeking explosive drone that can pressure opponents, stall pushes, or create openings during fights.
Respawn says Axle is designed to push Apex’s fast-paced gameplay further, rewarding players who stay constantly on the move.
Legend updates
Conduit and Vantage both receive updates aimed at supporting the new high-tempo meta.
Conduit now has two charges of Radiant Transfer in her base kit, alongside increased mobility when moving toward Skirmishers. New upgrades allow her to instantly grant temporary shields or regenerate them through damage.
Vantage’s Sniper’s Mark Ultimate has improved responsiveness, added zoom options, and greater flexibility in engagements. Her Tactical now prevents hard landing penalties, and tracking enemies generates Ultimate charge. A new upgrade also allows her to track entire squads when pinging a single target.

These changes position both Legends as strong options either alongside or against Axle’s movement-heavy playstyle.
Deathbox Respawns
Season 29 introduces Deathbox Respawns, a new mechanic that allows players to revive teammates directly at their deathbox with a seven-second cast.
This removes the need to reach a Respawn Beacon after winning a fight, keeping squads in the action. A cooldown system limits repeated revives, increasing the delay each time a player is eliminated before gradually resetting over the course of the match.
Respawn says the system is designed to reward teams that win engagements while maintaining momentum.
Mythic melee: Twin Razors
A new Mythic Universal Melee weapon, Twin Razors, is being added in Season 29.
The dual weapons feature rotating laser blades and can be equipped by any Legend. They are available through Overclocked Seasonal Packs for the duration of the season, with availability varying by region.
Overclocked Battle Pass
The Season 29 Battle Pass includes multiple tiers with cosmetic rewards and progression bonuses.
Split 1 Premium rewards include Legendary skins for Conduit and Crypto, a Legendary Nemesis weapon skin, 10 Exotic Shards, and a Reactive RE-45 skin at Tier 60.
Ultimate adds 1,200 Crafting Metals and 14 Apex Packs, while Ultimate+ includes additional skin variants, 10 Battle Pass levels, and access to all Legends during Split 1.
Respawn’s Season 29 update continues its focus on competitive integrity and faster gameplay, building on its 2026 roadmap aimed at improving matchmaking, anti-cheat, and overall match quality.
