Aug. 14 (UPI) — A Florida man won a $358,104 lottery prize during a visit to Michigan and said he will use his prize money to relocate to the northern state.
The 75-year-old man told Michigan Lottery players he and his wife were visiting family in Michigan when he bought his Fantasy 5 ticket from the Wesco gas station on Colby Road in Whitehall, about 20 miles northwest of Muskegon.
“My wife and I come to Michigan a lot because it’s where our family is, so whenever we are here, I pick back up playing my Fantasy 5 numbers,” the player said.
His ticket for the June 24 drawing bore the numbers 03-12-17-23-27.
“After the drawing that night, I checked my ticket by scanning it on the Michigan Lottery app. When I saw how much I’d won, I yelled to my wife: ‘We just won the lottery!’ and we both started to cry. We were up the rest of the night because we were both too excited to sleep,” the winner said.
The ticket earned him a $358,104 prize.
The winner said the prize money will allow him to pay some bills and buy a house in Michigan.
“Winning is life changing. This money will allow us to move closer to family and become debt free,” he said.
