Aug. 13 (UPI) — A suspicious object left outside a Washington, D.C., firehouse shut down rush hour traffic and prompted a bomb squad response before being identified as an adult toy.
Police were called to the station of D.C. Fire and EMS Engine 20 on Wisconsin Avenue in the Tenleytown neighborhood about 7 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a suspicious electronic device with exposed wires outside the building.
The person who left the object outside the building had reportedly spoken to an employee prior to tossing the device and leaving the scene.
Traffic was shut down in the area, causing delays to the morning rush while the police’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit investigated the object.
A police report identified the device as an “electronic sex portable pump device.”
The scene was cleared about 9 a.m.
The person who left the device outside the station has not been identified.
