Got a PS5 Pro? Don’t know about the “enhance PSSR image quality” setting in the video settings menu? Have I got great news for you! Following the installation of the latest PS5 Pro firmware, now available in beta, this setting will engaged by default, automatically upgrading games with PSSR support to the latest 2.0 version. This is an extremely effective toggle well worth enabling, so it makes sense for Sony to make it opt-out rather than opt-in.
The beta firmware also adds restrictions to the “turn off Bluetooth” setting, which is meant to be used in areas with extremely high wireless traffic, like LAN parties or esports venues. With the latest OS installed, enabling this setting prevents the console being put into rest mode and disables HDMI link.
Finally, Sony’s patch notes say that “system software performance and stability” has been improved – the classic “bug fixes and performance improvements” line that is appended to nearly every OS update.
To sign up for the PS5 system software beta programme to receive these updates in future, you can sign up at the PS5 Beta site if you’re at least 18 years old and live in the UK, US, Canada, Japan, Germany or France. From there, you can visit Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update to install betas when available.
