July 31 (UPI) — A Maryland man is celebrating a lucky streak after collecting his second $50,000 lottery prize so far this year.
The Charles County man told Maryland Lottery officials he has been playing the lottery for more than 20 years. He regularly buys Multi-Match tickets, but will occasionally branch out to Bonus Match 5 and scratch-off tickets.
The man bought a Bonus Match 5 ticket for the July 17 drawing from the Dash In store on Smallwood Drive in Waldorf. He scanned his ticket after the drawing and received the message: “Winner. See Retailer.”
“As a longtime player, I knew that meant I had won something,” he said. “I just didn’t know how much.”
A store clerk confirmed for the man that he had won a $50,000 prize.
The player revealed he had won the same amount from a second-chance drawing earlier this year.
The winner said his prize money will go toward buying his wife a new car and taking her on a vacation.
