White Dwarf 527: The Inside Scoop on Warhammer 40,000 – Warhammer Community

White Dwarf heads to the war world of Armageddon this month, with an in-depth look at the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. See what’s in the new issue before it goes up for pre-order on Saturday 8 August.

Issue 527 kicks off with the lore of the new edition, filling in the gaps between the events of Armageddon: Return of Yarrick and the launch of Operation Imperator. The outnumbered defenders, the rampaging Ork invaders and the Imperial reinforcements all have their own tales to be told, all of which are a great inspiration for your own games and narrative campaigns.

The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 began with a range of stunning Space Marines and Orks miniatures – including the swift Land Speeder and imposing Big Mek Dakkarig – and you can learn all about how they were created in a detailed 16-page designer’s commentary.

A new edition brings new rules for players to digest, and the designers from the Warhammer Studio head into White Dwarf Towers to delve into some of the changes, including terrain objectives, missions, and movement. There’s then an opportunity to see them in action with an Orks vs Blood Angels Battle Report.

It’s not all about the far future this month, though, as there are also new rules for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater. Dare you enter the Jade Abbey alone to explore the Nurgle-infested ruins by yourself?

On top of all that, you’ll get your usual complement of hobby advice – including step-by-step painting guides for Orks and Space Marines – and monthly missions for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. There’s even the first of a five-part run of suitably warpstone-fuelled Skaven fiction from the high seas, titled Voyage Of The Saltfyre.*

White Dwarf 527 is available to pre-order from Saturday 8 August. Never miss an issue – and get them delivered directly to your door, with fancy full-art covers – by signing up for a 12-month subscription.
