July 28 (UPI) — An Ohio man who won a prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years from a scratch-off lottery ticket ended up winning a $25,000 prize later that same week.
The Toledo man told Ohio Lottery officials he bought his first $50 Millionaire Blowout ticket from Mike’s Corner Store on Key Street in Toledo and was shocked to scratch off a prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years — a total $1 million.
The man decided to take his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $500,000, taking home $366,250 after taxes.
The winner said the big prize left him feeling lucky, so he bought a second ticket later that same week and scored a $25,000 prize, taking home $18,312.50 after taxes.
The man said his winnings will allow him to extend his upcoming vacation, buy a new vehicle, share with his kids and boost his savings.
