July 17 (UPI) — Firefighters in Pennsylvania came to the rescue of a pony that wandered into a creek and became stuck in the deep mud.

The Brecknock Township Volunteer Fire Company said on social media that crews were summoned “to an unusual rescue” Wednesday evening when the 700-800-pound pony was found stuck in the muddy creek.

Photos from the scene show firefighters using ropes and a wooden board to get access to the pony and fit it with straps.

The equine was then lifted out of the mud using a bucket truck.

“Incidents like this remind us that not every emergency involves a fire or vehicle. Our volunteers are ready to respond whenever our community calls, whether it is helping people or animals in need,” the post said.
