Blooper

If there’s one thing well-known about the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, it’s that it’s hacked to bits on the PS3.
While it hasn’t put a whole lot of effort into the port, one positive of Activision re-releasing the title on PS5 and PS4 is that it promised new servers – and surely some fixes to those old exploits, right?
Nah, not according to MP1st.
The multiplayer-focused website reports that the PS Store best-seller is broken so badly some hackers are preventing fans from being able to play.

In the game mode Domination, cheaters have figured out a way to assign players with negative XP. This means they drop below Level 1, which is a requirement to interact with the competitive multiplayer modes, thus locking them out. Madness!
There’s all kinds of other chicanery going on as well, with people dropping in and out of matches rapidly and hacking save files to unlock Pro Perks.
To be honest, while I think these ports are overpriced, I can forgive Activision for presenting them in their original format (although I obviously think it should have put more work in here).
But retaining all of the original hacks and exploits, meaning the multiplayer experience is broken all over again, seems unforgivable for fans who just want to play these games as god intended.
Considering how well they’ve sold, I do hope there’ll be some post-release support here. But I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the publisher wash its hands of the project, laughing all the way to the bank.
