Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear on Saturday urged Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to provide an update on his health status to the public.
“I publicly and privately urged the last administration to address the public’s concerns with the former president’s health,” Beshear said.
“I’m calling on Sen. McConnell to do the same and provide voters an update on his own health. Let’s end the crazy speculation. Just tell us what’s going on,” he continued.

McConnell has been absent from the Senate for three weeks and was first hospitalized in early June for an undisclosed condition.
His office has declined to release specific details or a timeline for his return, though leaked emergency dispatch audio from a June 14 call revealed he was seemingly found unconscious at his home and may have suffered a heart attack.
McConnell’s wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing following the hospitalization, and her office claimed his condition “did not warrant an immediate return to the U.S.”
Both Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said they have since spoken with McConnell at length about Senate business, recent Supreme Court decisions and the ongoing Graham Platner campaign scandal.
However, when asked about McConnell’s condition aboard Air Force One on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said, “I have no idea how he’s doing.”
Beshear previously sent a letter to McConnell’s office to request an update on his health.
“Over the last several weeks, Kentuckians have grown increasingly concerned about the current state of your health and wellbeing, and ability to hold office in the United States Senate,” the letter read.
“As Governor, I request that you fully update Kentuckians regarding the current status of your health,” it continued.
“As public officeholders, we have made a commitment to our constituents to do our best to represent them and to always be transparent. I believe this requires clear communication about one’s ability to serve. We wish you a safe and speedy recovery,” it added.

The unanswered questions extend to the scene outside McConnell’s home the morning he was hospitalized. CNN reported that one of the senator’s neighbors, who was not named by the outlet, filmed video of the ambulance outside his home.
Audio from the original 911 call appeared to indicate McConnell was unconscious when emergency crews were dispatched, and the dispatcher requested an advanced life support response. It remains one of the only concrete details to emerge about the severity of what happened that day.
