When the mob turns: Scott Wiener was an LGBT icon. Then he wasn’t enough.

In the heart of San Francisco this weekend, a viral video captured a scene that should awaken every American who still believes the LGBT movement is about civil rights or personal liberty.

California State Sen. Scott Wiener — the leading champion of expansive LGBT legislation in the state, and an openly gay man — was surrounded, harassed, and effectively chased out of the Trans March in Dolores Park. Protesters cursed at the senator as they followed him around with one person, presumably the amateur videographer, shouting that he was “not queer anymore.” The video, which has been viewed millions of times online, shows Wiener attempting to attend a trans-led Pride Shabbat service only to be hounded out of the park. And all of it, simply because his initial stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict fell short of their demands for immediate and total condemnation.

This incident is not an anomaly. It is the inevitable fruit of a Marxist movement that has long since ceased being about who is attracted to whom and has become a political ideology masquerading as compassion. What began decades ago with calls for “tolerance” and decriminalization of private consensual behavior has transformed into something far more radical.

While we at the CHANGED Movement believe same-sex sexual arousal and persistent feelings of gender incongruence are genuine experiences in a fallen world, they do not redefine or override the deeper reality of who we are as image-bearers of God. These struggles do not change our created ontology as male or female.

In contrast, today’s LGBT framework projects a subjective, inward sense of self that ultimately seeks to transcend the God-given limits of biology. It embraces a mind-body dualism that separates feelings from physical reality and disregards the procreative design woven into our bodies.

But, put aside for a moment your understanding of the L, G, B, and even T in LGBTQ. The addition of “Q” to the acronym brought along its own direct challenge to God’s created order: the reality of male and female. Even same-sex attraction, while still in conflict with God’s perfect design, presupposes a stable binary of sexes; gender fluidity, the “Q”, denies that binary altogether.

These ideas do not peacefully coexist under one umbrella. They are held together only by a shared commitment to dismantle traditional norms, parental authority, and biological truth.

Senator Wiener has been one of the most influential advocates for this agenda in California. First elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2010 (representing the same district once held by Harvey Milk) and then to the State Senate in 2016, Wiener has authored and championed numerous high-profile bills. He has pushed so-called “sanctuary-state” protections for trans youth and their families fleeing other states’ “restrictions,” advanced privacy measures for sex-rejection records, opposed talk therapy, and worked to expand child access to medically sanctioned sexual mutilation. His record made him a hero to many in the LGBT activist community.

Yet even he, their consistent ally, faced the mob’s wrath. For years, Wiener criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies and the war in Gaza while stopping short of the most extreme rhetoric. He supported Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish homeland and condemned Hamas but resisted the “genocide” label during a congressional candidate debate earlier this year, citing its weight and historical ties to the Holocaust.

In January 2026, under pressure, he reversed course in a public video, declaring, “I do believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza,” and accusing the Israeli government of trying to destroy Gaza and displace Palestinians. Despite this shift — and despite his long pro-LGBT agenda record — it was not enough for the “inclusive” party. Ideological purity on every front, including foreign policy unrelated to Weiner’s state legislative duties, is now the price of admission. Put very simply, identifying as a gay man isn’t good enough to be in the party.

The irony is profound: a Jewish lawmaker who has devoted himself to the party’s agenda in every possible way now faces its wrath, in part because radical elements within his own activist circles harbor deep hostility toward Israel. As many of us fighting for the rights of Christians and children already know, this episode reveals the true nature of the current LGBT agenda. It is not about protecting individuals from discrimination but about enforcing a comprehensive worldview without dissent. This is a form of cultural Marxism dressed in a purple bow tie and a rainbow mini-skirt. It demands total allegiance to the eradication of God-given order. Dissent on foreign policy, biology, speech, or parental rights renders one an enemy, no matter how many bills you have passed or allegiances you’ve previously made. Loyalty to the party does not equate to loyalty from the party.

As a follower of Christ, I have watched this progression with sorrow but not surprise. When a culture exchanges the truth of God for a lie and worships the creature rather than the creator, confusion and division follow. The compassionate response is not blanket affirmation of every self-identification or medical intervention. It is to speak the truth in love: God designed us male and female with purpose and beauty. Our deepest identity is not found in sexuality or feelings, but in being image-bearers of a Holy God. True freedom and wholeness come through repentance and relationship with Jesus Christ, who heals what sin and confusion have broken.

Recent legislative efforts underscore the stakes. Bills advancing expansive gender-related policies in California, including measures tied to healthcare access and privacy for transitions continue to prioritize adult “affirmation” and youth access over caution, parental involvement, and biological reality. These policies, often spearheaded or supported by figures like Senator Wiener, treat disagreement as bigotry rather than legitimate concern grounded in science, child safeguarding, and faith.

The events in Dolores Park expose the fracturing of an already unstable party. The party of Pride is turning on its own. Yesterday’s hero becomes today’s villain the moment he/she/they step out of line.

This should serve as a sobering warning to every Christian parent, pastor, and leader. We must engage the culture with both conviction and compassion. Without conviction, every pillar of American society will surely crumble under the guise of “sexual freedom.” And without compassion, we scoff at the essential building block of the Kingdom of God by virtue of ignoring the greatest commandment: Love your neighbor.

My prayer is that God would use even this moment of public humiliation to open eyes — especially that of Senator Wiener’s. May he see not only the hypocrisy of a movement that devours its allies, but also the love of Christians who have opposed his policies not out of hatred, but out of conviction that God’s design is good and His ways lead to flourishing.

May God be our guide, and His truth our path.
