June 2 (UPI) — An exotic animal expert called in to help capture a porcupine on the loose in Poland was surprised to discover the loose animal was his own escaped pet.
Myślenice police said residents in Krzywaczka reported a porcupine wandering loose through a residential neighborhood about 10 p.m. Sunday.
Police located the animal and contacted a local exotic animal expert with experience handling porcupines and the necessary equipment to capture transport such a creature.
“However, the situation took an unexpected turn. Upon arrival, the man was surprised to recognize the animal as… his own porcupine,” police wrote in a news release. “As it turned out, the animal had likely chewed through a fence post and escaped the property on its own.”
The porcupine was safely returned home with no injuries to human or animals.
