April 28 (UPI) — Firefighters and animal rescuers in North Carolina got some help from a towing company to hoist a donkey stuck in the deep mud near a pond.

Thomasville Fire and Rescue said on social media that rescuers were called to the pond Friday night on a report of a donkey, named Miss Kitty, stuck in the deep mud.

“She had likely been there for hours and couldn’t move,” the post said.

Firefighters worked together with the Piedmont Emergency Animal Response Team to develop a rescue plan utilizing a truck from Garrett’s Towing.

The post included a video of Miss Kitty being hoisted out of the mud by the tow truck.

“The last update we received from the family is that Miss Kitty is doing well and on the road to recovery,” officials wrote.
