April 22 (UPI) — Firefighters and animal control officers came together in Ohio to rescue a dog stranded in a drainage water basin off Lake Erie.
Cleveland Animal Care and Control responded Tuesday when they dog was reported to have swam out into the drainage basin and appeared to be too scared to come back out.
ACC summoned Cleveland Fire personnel for assistance.
“With a little help from some canine carry-outs (beef flavor did the trick!), they were able to safely coax her out, get her harnessed and lift her to safety.,” ACC said on social media.
The dog was scanned for a microchip, which revealed her owner’s information. The owner had been out searching for the missing canine.
“Because of teamwork between departments, and a lot of patience and care, this story had the best possible ending — a very happy reunion,” the post said.
