March 31 (UPI) — A North Carolina horse showed off his skills by performing 38 tricks in under three minutes, earning a Guinness World Record in the process.
Gringo, a 19-year-old white mustang trained by his owner, Lauryn Zepeda, performed tricks including dancing, kicking a ball, waving a flag, ringing a bell and even playing a keyboard with his nose.
He completed all 38 tricks in just 2 minutes and 47 seconds.
“This record meant a great deal to us, because our training approach isn’t very traditional in the horse world,” Zepeda told Guinness World Records. “Clicker training [and] positive reinforcement are commonly associated with dogs, but not many people realize how effective it is with horses as well.”
She said she hopes Gringo will inspire other horse trainers to try gentle methods.
“When we perform, that’s a message we’re passionate about sharing: there are alternative, humane methods — and horses can have meaningful jobs beyond riding,” she said.
Zepeda said Gringo is a professional performer, and often puts on shows at various events.
“He’s very passionate about his job. He loves his job,” she told WECT-TV.
