Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy after a teenage girl was stabbed at a high school.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries after the incident at Thorpe St Andrew School, near Norwich.

The BBC has been told the students have been placed under lockdown conditions in the school in Laundry Lane.

A Norfolk Police spokesperson said it was called at about 10:24 GMT and a 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Laundry Lane has been closed, police said.

A police spokesperson said: “This incident is not believed to be linked to a hate crime reported at the same school last week.”

East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.

Parents commenting on a Norfolk Police post on Facebook say parents have had limited information and are concerned for the safety of their children.

Broad Horizons Education Trust, which runs the school, told the BBC it was unable to comment further at this stage.
