Nintendo is just dropping news and updates on us non-stop since the year started, and now we’ve got a first look at what’s coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack sub offerings in March.
On 4th March, an update on the next additions to the (paid) digital library of retro games was shared by Nintendo. It’s a small but interesting one, as it’s all about overlooked Mario games for the Virtual Boy and Game Boy Advance Classics libraries dropping on 10th March – or MAR10 day, if you will. Watch the reveal video right here:
For those of you have grabbed the new iteration of the Virtual Boy hardware, two titles are coming in hot: Mario’s Tennis (which is way less fast and furious than Mario Tennis Fever) and Mario Clash, a 3D reimagining of 1983’s Mario Bros. But the new GBA title may be our favourite new arrival.
It was only a couple of years ago that Nintendo Switch got a notable remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, so it’s a surprise (but a welcome one) that the original GBA game is back in official form. Some fans might remember it used to be available via the 3DS eShop and its Wii U counterpart, so it’s not the first time Nintendo has re-released it on modern platforms. Still, looking at the YouTube comments so far, it appears most people weren’t expecting it to make a return shortly after a big Switch remake.
The news have landed well, and it’s good to see Switch Online’s selection of games growing at a steady pace (and with some overlooked releases) even if we diehards will never be fully pleased with the selection of oldies available. Which classics would you like to see added to the subscription next?
