Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker have seemingly been removed from the PS3 digital store, shortly after the reveal of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2.

Spotted by the keen enthusiasts on the dedicated PS3 Reddit, players can still see both games on the store, but are unable to actually buy them. It’s worth noting that if you already own the game digitally or physically, those copies should still work just fine on the PS3.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, which was revealed during the Sony State of Play earlier this year, includes both of the aforementioned games as well as Metal Gear Ghost Babel. It’ll be coming to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This collection is especially noteworthy as Metal Gear Solid 4 was previous trapped on the PS3, having not been ported to other platforms.

That game does, however, have some features and quirks unique to the PS3. Konami stated many of these will be faithfully replicated in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.2, but sadly multiplayer is being left in the past. It’s a shame too, as Metal Gear Online certainly had a dedicated community of keen players back in the PS3 era.

Previously, Konami developers said that remaking Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots like Metal Gear Solid 3 was in the recent Metal Gear Delta would be “pretty hard”. This port in the Master Collection certainly isn’t that, but who knows? Maybe if it proves popular we’ll see a fully remade reimagination of the end of Snake’s saga.
