March 3 (UPI) — A North Carolina woman who has been using the same set of special lottery numbers for years saw her persistence pay off with a $100,000 Powerball prize.

High Point resident Norma Knight told North Carolina Education Lottery officials the ticket she bought online for the Feb. 23 Powerball drawing bore a familiar set of digits.

“I choose my numbers based on birthdays and anniversaries,” Knight said. “I’ve played the same numbers for years.”

Knight matched four white balls and the Powerball in the drawing, earning a $50,000 prize that was doubled to $100,000 thanks to the Power Play option and the 2X multiplier.

“I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,'” Knight recalled. “I yelled for my husband to come take a look at it.”

Knight said her prize money will go toward home repair projects, taking a family vacation and buying her husband a new tractor.
