Jan. 30 (UPI) — Customs officials in Belarus said a car shipped to the country from the United States turned out to have a surprising stowaway: a raccoon.
The Customs Authorities of Belarus said the car was one of several in a shipping container that arrived in the country via ship.
Customs investigators spotted the raccoon napping on the dashboard and took the animal to the Oshmyany District Veterinary Station, where it displayed a healthy appetite for eggs.
“He is friendly and well-mannered. New additions to his food preferences — crab sticks and fresh grapes — have joined the chicken eggs he loved from day one,” the Customs Committee said in an update.
The raccoon, now named Senya, will be in quarantine until Feb. 3, at which time authorities will decide whether he will have a new home at the Grodno Zoo or the Naliboki Forest.
