War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine will deliver a press briefing this morning as the war in Iran is well into its fifth week.
The US launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28, with a major attack on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of top Iranian officials.
Trump released footage of US and Israeli strikes last night, reportedly on an intercontinental ballistic missile site in Isfahan, Iran.
This comes as the US military has seemingly accomplished its military goals of decimating Iran’s missile infrastructure, naval forces, air force, and nuclear capabilities, according to the Pentagon, as well as regime change.
As the US and Israel continue to trade missiles with Iran, President Trump has said he is close to a deal with Iran and that the war could be over “soon.”
Trump on Sunday said Iran is “agreeing with us” on his 15-point plan and that some oil is being allowed to flow through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed to shipping after Operation Epic Fury began.
“It’s really a new regime. It’s a group of people, people that we’ve never dealt with before, that are acting very reasonable. It is truly regime change,” he said.
On Monday, Trump threatened to escalate the war by targeting Iran’s energy and water infrastructure “if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached.”

Reports suggest that Trump is weighing the option of a ground invasion as thousands of additional troops are deployed to the Middle East.
When asked about ground troops on Sunday, Trump said, “I just have lots of alternatives,” also noting, “we have tremendous numbers of ships over there.”
The briefing is scheduled to begin at 8 am ET.
