April 8 (UPI) — The makers of the video game adaptation of Halloween gathered horror fans in Boston to break the Guinness World Record for people dressed as killer Michael Myers.
IllFonic, Gun Interactive, Compass International Pictures and Further Front brought 254 people in Michael Myers costumes to the unveiling of the first playable demo of the upcoming video game at the PAX East expo in Boston.
“As huge horror fans, we’ve seen countless fans demonstrate their love of Halloween at horror conventions and events throughout the years,” IllFonic representative Miles Dompier told Guinness World Records. “Our team literally brought the Myers’ House to PAX East to share our first playable demo for Halloween, the video game, and that felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate that fandom and flood the streets of Boston with the Boogeyman himself.”
The 254 people dressed in blue coveralls and creepy masks — originally modeled after actor William Shatner — officially set the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Michael Myers (Halloween franchise), Guinness World Records confirmed.
The new Halloween video game is scheduled to release Sept. 8 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via Steam and Epic Games Store.
