The service will first roll out in Dubai:

200 MPH FLYING TAXIS TO LAUNCH IN DUBAI NEXT YEAR THANKS TO U.S. COMPANY Joby Aviation is bringing Uber-for-the-skies to Dubai in 2026 with all-electric air taxis that can cut a 45-minute drive down to a 10-minute flight.
The SUV-sized aircraft flies at 200 mph, runs on batteries, and sounds more like wind in the trees than a helicopter. It’s basically a flying Tesla with propellers.
You book it like an Uber, it picks you up at a vertiport, lands at another vertiport, then you ride a regular car the rest of the way. So no, it won’t land on your balcony.
A ride will cost about as much as Uber Black, which feels like a bargain if you’re skipping Dubai traffic by literally flying over it.
U.S. cities may follow, but experts warn it’s expensive, chaotic, and possibly dangerous. Dubai, however, is betting big on going full sci-fi.

“We’ve long believed in the power of advanced air mobility to transform how people move through cities,” Sachin Kansal, Uber’s chief product officer said in a press release. “With Uber Air, riders will be able to book Joby’s electric air taxi through a simple and familiar, one-tap experience on Uber, seamlessly connecting every leg of their journey — making ground-to-sky travel even more effortless.”
Eric Allison, the chief product officer for the California-based air taxi company, says Joby is building “a new layer of urban transportation.”
“Our focus has always been on creating a flight experience that operates quietly and integrates naturally into the rhythm of city life,” Allison says in a press release. “By partnering with Uber, we’re making this new mode of transportation familiar and accessible, connecting the ground and the sky through a system designed to save people time and fit seamlessly into how they already move.”
According to a press release, Uber and Joby first started working together in 2019. Two years later, Joby acquired Uber’s Elevate division, which worked on urban air mobility.
The air taxis, flown by certified commercial pilots, are designed to accommodate up to four passengers with “comfortable seating” and large windows offering panoramic views of the city below. Luggage will also be permitted on board, with more details to be released closer to the program’s launch.
The vehicles use six tilting propellers to take off vertically before transition to forward flight. The company reports the taxis will be able to travel at speeds of up to 200 mph, with a range of 100 miles on a single charge.

You can order one for $128,000, with $8,000 down due today.
The only problem?
All the 2026 and 2027 units have sold out, so delivery for new orders is estimated for 2028.
Oh, and prices go up to $148,000 on November 3, 2025:
So far, their website reflects 564 orders have already been placed, covering all units to be produced in 2026 and 2027.
If you want a ride before 2028, you’d better make friends with one of those 564 people.

Our number one asked question is, “How far can you fly?”
Well, here is the answer: 11.02 miles or 17.74km
Earlier this spring we performed a multitude of endurance tests with the Jetson ONE. Flights were done out of ground effect at at a field with 730ft elevation. With a cruise speed of 60km/h (37mph) we repeatedly covered a total distance of 17.74km (11.02 miles). We are continuously looking for ways to extend that time, but we are reasonably satisfied with the progress that we have made to bring a new and unique product to the market.
