This is a comic panel I’d been thinking about making for a very, VERY long time…
As a long-time observer of conspiracies and those who believe in them, it is funny how many of the people who were warning us about the New World Order (NWO) and the ‘FEMA death camps’—remember those, fellow old timers?—are not only encouraging the current spiraling down of the United States towards Fascism—some of them are actively participating in it.
Make no mistake: MAGA —like all populist movements—is fueled by conspiracy thinking. Instilling an ‘Us vs Them’ fear about ‘open borders’, the ‘great replacement theory’, Islamophobia, autism triggering vaccines, the ‘trans agenda’ and the ‘woke cancel culture’ to name but a few. All these fears have actually turned the old fears of previous conspiracy thinkers from decades past—people being assaulted and arrested for no reason in the middle of the street, journalists fired, political critics silenced, detainment centers where prisoners are treated like animals—into a reality.
I guess the old conspiracy mongers were so eager to be proven right about the dystopic future they were so worried about for so long, they went on to create it.
