President Trump Signals The U.S. May Withdraw From NATO: ‘They Weren’t There When We Needed Them”

President Trump has sounded off on NATO.

On Wednesday evening, President Trump took to Truth Social to let NATO partners know he’s not happy with them.

Trump stated in all caps, “NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM.”

“And they won’t be there when we need them again,” added Trump.

Trump concluded his message by writing, “Remember Greenland.”

Trump’s comments come at an interesting time, as the White House has signaled that the United States may withdraw from NATO.

Fox News reported more on the U.S. possibly withdrawing from NATO:

President Donald Trump will meet with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte Wednesday at the White House, just as transatlantic relations within the alliance have frayed during U.S. operations in Iran.

Ahead of the meeting, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt read a quote from Trump to reporters on NATO: “They were tested, and they failed.”

“It’s quite sad that NATO turned their backs on the American people over the course of the last six weeks when it’s the American people who have been funding their defense,” she added.

Leavitt predicted a “frank and candid” conversation between Trump and Rutte Wednesday afternoon.

Trump repeatedly has threatened to withdraw the U.S. from NATO and slammed European nations for blocking base access and providing limited help to the Iran offensive known as Operation Epic Fury.

Despite a good relationship with the head of NATO, who once called him “daddy” of the alliance, Trump has said he views NATO as a “one-way street.”

“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” he said to the alliance in a Truth Social post March 31.
