Back in the day, feminists argued that Hillary Clinton was forced to cover up for her husband’s abuses. That made her a victim of a ‘stand by your man’ culture expectation. Now, as the Clintons are being forced to testify about their ties to Jeffrey Epstein, Hillary’s media fans are brushing off this same argument all over again.
For Hillary Clinton, an Epstein Deposition Is the Latest ‘Stand by Your Man’ Moment – New York Times
That’s a lie and the media knows it.
Not everything is about sex. And Hillary’s ties to Epstein were about the money.
Even assuming that Bill Clinton was benefiting from Epstein’s sex crimes, that wasn’t the basis for their relationship. Epstein’s big draw was his ‘non-profit’ expertise. He was good at moving money around, had a range of contacts and appeared ready and able to donate and help raise money. That’s how he built his relationship with the Clintons. Epstein claimed to have helped create the Clinton Global Initiative.
The Clinton Global Initiative allowed foreign interests to buy access to a potential future president whose name was Hillary. There are some damning photos of Bill in the Epstein files, but the former president had no real trouble finding women to cheat on Hillary with. He didn’t really need Epstein for that. The issue was money.
So when the New York Times publishes stuff like this, it’s lying.
More than 34 years later, Mrs. Clinton will be back on the proverbial couch on Thursday because of her husband, forced to field in-depth, potentially uncomfortable questions that ultimately require her, once again, to answer for her spouse’s actions and relationships.
This time, she is set to appear in Chappaqua, N.Y., near her home, for a closed-door deposition in front of the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender with whom Mr. Clinton once associated.
Mr. Clinton had a relationship with Mr. Epstein years before Mr. Epstein’s sex crimes conviction. The former president took four trips on Mr. Epstein’s private jet in 2002 and 2003 and appears in photographs in the files released by the Justice Department. But Mrs. Clinton did not. She has said that she “cannot recall ever speaking to Epstein,” and that she met Ghislaine Maxwell, his longtime associate, only a few times.
During the period when Mr. Clinton was building the Clinton Global Initiative and interacting with Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell, Mrs. Clinton “was busy being a U.S. senator,” said Ms. Doyle, who worked for her at the time. “She was not involved.”
The entire reason the Clinton Global Initiative existed was Hillary. No one was putting in serious money to get access to an ex-president. Hillary was the entire selling point here. And the best evidence of that was the decline of the Clinton setup, under its various names, after Hillary Clinton lost her final campaign.
Everyone knew she was going to run for president. By 2006, she already had her campaign operation in place and was locking down the primaries. (It didn’t work out well, but that’s another story.)
A year earlier, CGI had been officially founded. The one thing Hillary wasn’t busy doing was being senator.
In 2006, Hillary appeared at the CGI dinner alongside various billionaires and foreign leaders including Bill Gates, also in trouble over Epstein.
The idea that the Clinton Global Initiative was some thing that Bill was off doing and that Hillary is being unfairly blamed for is embarrassing nonsense.
But all they have are lies.
