April 2 (UPI) — Police in California responded to a report of a trespasser drinking outside a resident’s home and discovered a dummy placed as an April Fools’ Day prank.

The Laguna Beach Police Department said on social media that officers responded Wednesday to a neighborhood where “someone had seen a person camping and drinking next to their home.”

The officers approached the supposed trespasser and quickly noticed it was a mannequin wearing sunglasses, a fake beard and a hoodie and posed with a blanket and a beer bottle.

The mannequin had apparently been placed next to the home as an April Fools’ Day prank, police said.

“We know some of you will be pulling off epic pranks today, but remember, faking emergencies or calling 911 is not a joke,” the post said. “Stay safe, have fun, and don’t be a fool.”
