Feb. 10 (UPI) — Firefighters in Britain learned the job “isn’t always glamorous” when they were called to rescue a cow trapped in deep, sticky mud.
The Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said on social media that crews from Keswick, Penrith and Workington responded Friday “to a report of a cow in need of rescue after becoming trapped in mud near Threlkeld.”
The crews worked together with a veterinarian, a large animal rescue team and the cow’s owner to get the bovine back to sold ground.
“Firefighters were able to get the cow ‘moo-ving’ using people power and on-site machinery to free the animal over the course of several hours,” the post said.
Officials said it was not a usual call for the Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, writing: “Being a firefighter isn’t always glamorous!”
