Look: Black bear cub rescued from ditch next to New Jersey highway

April 6 (UPI) — New Jersey State Police troopers came to the rescue of an orphaned or abandoned black bear cub found in a ditch at the side of a busy highway.

The State Police said on social media that personnel from Troop B Perryville Station received an “unusual call” last week about “a lone bear cub spotted in a roadside ditch.”

The bear was located at the side of Interstate 78 East at milepost 12.2 in Union Township.

“Upon arrival, troopers found the small cub alone and in need of assistance” the post said. “He was safely secured, transported back to the barracks, and later released to the Department of Environmental Protection for proper care.”
