A transgender OnlyFans adult content creator who was unanimously appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Lynnwood City Council in Washington state on Monday has withdrawn candidacy. The decision came after an expose revealed that Jessica Ann Roberts, 32, born Neil Vincent Roberts, had a hidden history as a sex worker that included a cannibalism fetish and an “uncontrollable” desire to impregnate women.
The Lynnwood City Council said on Tuesday that it would be holding a meeting on March 13 to discuss rescinding Roberts’ appointment after receiving nationwide backlash over its decision to select Roberts for the council. However, the city council released a statement just hours before the meeting was scheduled to occur, announcing that Roberts had withdrawn candidacy.
“This afternoon, the City was informed that Ms. Roberts has removed her name from consideration for the City Council. Tonight’s Council Special Business Meeting will still be held as scheduled. We will provide more information on the next steps to fill the vacant Council position soon,” the council wrote in a statement to KOMO 4 News.
On March 10, the Lynnwood City Council announced Roberts had been appointed to fill the vacant seat for position 5, selecting the transgender sex worker over Army combat veteran and Amazon program manager, Robert Leutwyler. Shortly after the decision was announced, an expose from the Lynnwood Times revealed that Roberts was an OnlyFans adult content creator who had uploaded a plethora of pornographic videos and photos of themselves to the site. Additionally, a glimpse into Roberts’ social media accounts showed that the candidate had posted about “uncontrollable” urges to impregnate women and eat them, suggesting a cannibalism fetish.
The following day, the city council said that it would be holding a Special Business Meeting to review Roberts’ appointment, claiming that they were unaware of Roberts’ controversial sex work history. Had the council been made aware, the vote may have gone differently, said Nick Coelho, the President of Lynnwood City Council.
Coehlo explained that Roberts had presented themselves to the council as a customer service representative in the application for the position. According to Roberts’ LinkedIn account, Roberts is currently employed as a customer service representative for a local plumbing company.
Roberts has since deactivated the OnlyFans account after the paper disclosed the matter on Monday night. In a statement to the Lynnwood Times, Roberts said the OnlyFans account was created to make “a little cash on the side” and increase self-confidence.
The now-former candidate also defended sex work, suggesting individuals involved in the industry should be allowed to have a seat at the table. “Sex workers live, work, and pay taxes in their municipalities, counties, state, and federal government, while also contributing to their communities every day in ways not related to their work,” said Roberts. “They absolutely deserve the opportunity to represent their communities just as much as anyone who works in any other jobs across our city.”
Roberts has not released a personal statement about withdrawing from the council.
