“FBI personnel are on the scene with partners in Michigan and responding to the apparent vehicle ramming and active shooter situation out of Temple Israel Synagogue…”
An active shooting incident took place at a synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan on Wednesday afternoon. A large police presence was seen at Temple Israel, as well as smoke coming from the building. The gunman was reportedly shot dead by armed security at the building.
Per Fox News’ Bill Melugin, “I’m told by law enforcement source that the suspected shooter at the Michigan synagogue was armed with a rifle, rammed a vehicle into the building and was killed in shootout w/ armed security. I’m told vehicle caught on fire and the suspect’s body is burned. No ID yet.”
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said that it was at the scene as well as multiple other agencies “for reports of an active shooter,” and that emergency personnel were “clearing the building.” The office told reporters at the scene that as of just after 1:30 pm, no injuries had been reported “except potentially the shooter.” The sheriff later said that one person was injured, the security guard, who was hit by the vehicle.
FBI Director Kash Patel said, “FBI personnel are on the scene with partners in Michigan and responding to the apparent vehicle ramming and active shooter situation out of Temple Israel Synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.”
Police sources told local news that authorities believe a truck intentionally crashed into the building and caught fire. The smoke that was seen at the scene is from that vehicle. This is a breaking story. Please refresh the page for updates.
